Great Expectations is an excellent dating service for people who are relationship oriented and serious about finding a partner. They have been in business for about 30 years, and differs from most other dating services in that there is a whole screening process and background check done on all members. All members are required to interview at a nearby center where they create a profile, get a professional photo taken, and create a 5-7 minute video.

So what does all this mean? It means that once you are a member, you have access to thousands of meaningful listings that all have videos, photos, and a detailed profile. You can view these listings either online, or by visiting the "library" at the office closest to you.

If you have searched listings at other dating sites, you know that almost none of the listings have video, only some have photos, and many profiles do not tell you enough about a person. At Great Expectations, it's a lot easier to get a good idea of what someone is really like, since all members have videos and photos. In addition, the mandatory background check ensures that you will not be dealing with people with questionable backgrounds or anyone claiming to be single when they are actually married.

The service is very personalized, professional, and confidential. Your real name does not appear with your listing, and you can even arrange anonymous phone conversations (where your real number is not revealed). We were surprised to find that there were over 4700 listings just in the area served by a nearby office. Each year, tons of marriages result from people who meet through Great Expectations.
