OUR REVIEW:

American Singles is one of the larger dating sites on the Internet that, despite its name, actually has profiles for people all over the world. Current profiles number in the millions, and at any time, there are tens of thousands of people online you can chat with or IM. The service offers all the standard features of a great dating site, including detailed searches and profiles, but also offers interesting additional features as well (more on this below).

Setting up a membership is free, and this allows you to create your profile, upload pictures, and search other members in your area. You can also send free "teases" to other members. Teases are really just a one-line expressions of interest (which can be reciprocated), and nothing more. As with most other dating sites, you need to upgrade your status to full membership if you want to initiate more serious contact with other members. Fortunately, the membership fee is a very reasonable $24.95/month, which can be cancelled at any time.

What makes American Singles really stand out is a feature called Click! - which allows American Singles to introduce members to each other, but only if they both think they would get along. This feature basically works as follows: Next to each profile, you can choose yes, no, or maybe on whether you think you two would click. When two members both click "yes," then a "Click alert" is sent to each member. The beauty of this feature is that neither person ever finds out whether the other person clicked "yes" or "no" or did not use the feature, unless there is a mutual "yes" click. This allows people to show interest in each other without having to risk overt rejection.

Overall, American Singles is a solid, popular dating service with strong basic features as well as a few extras we have not found at other sites. Because of the quick, relatively painless signup process, we highly recommend you at least open a free account so you can see for yourself if this type of service is right for you.
